ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Molly Garris is a Digital Strategy Manager at Arc Worldwide / Leo Burnett, serving as the agency’s in-house mobile marketing subject matter expert. She leads internal and external mobile education, strategically guides accounts across the agency with mobile solutions and assists with managing large, complex mobile campaigns. Agency clients include Purina, P & G, Whirlpool, Allstate, McDonald’s, Walgreens, Altria, Comcast, Norton, Hallmark, Nintendo, United Airlines and Kellogg.

Molly has worked in the mobile space for over 6 years, driving new product development, integrating the mobile channel into marketing strategies, optimizing mobile campaigns to yield stronger results and overseeing various mobile marketing campaigns for clients such as Land Rover, Toshiba, L.E.I. and Moneygram. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing from Michigan State University and actively participates in Mobile Mondays, the Heartland Mobile Council and the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing (CADM).

Android 201 Workshop, 7/17

This intensive full-day class is being taught by nationally renown Android instructor Mark Murphy, author of “The Busy Coder’s Guide to Advanced Android Development,” and will be held at Motorola’s downtown Chicago offices. The $75 registration fee covers lunch and materials.

This course builds on the series of “Android 101″ workshops offered by Chicago Android in order to help students advance to the next level of competency with the platform. As a prerequisite, all students must have successfully completed both the SMS and the barcode scanning app courses, or the equivalent.

Registration is limited to just 30 participants in order to offer this rare “hands on” course with Mr. Murphy. As mentioned, due to the intense nature of this workshop, a minimal level of experience is required.

This month marks our second annual Mobile Demo Showcase! Six companies will take 10 minutes each to tell you about how their mobile projects are out to change the world — or just change their own company! After each of the six companies present, a handful more will do three minute lightning presentations on their projects. Before and after the event, all participating companies will have tables where they can demo their projects individually for attendees.

Do you have a new app, product, or service offering targeting mobile devices? If yes, then we want you to join our Mobile Demo Showcase on Monday, June 21st!

Each participant will have 10 minutes to talk about and demo their app, product, or service offering. (That includes Q&A!) Before and after the 10-minute demo rounds, each participant will also be given space around the room so that the attendees can stop by and learn more about them.

Who are we looking for?
Startups. Service providers. Entrepreneurs. Even more established & larger companies who’ve recently launched a new mobile offering are welcome to join in the fun! We would like to showcase between 6 - 8 demos. Please be located in the greater Chicagoland area.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
After completing degrees in International Relations and Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin, Aaron set off for Chile, where he began his first language company with a focus on writing and editing scientific journal submissions for Chilean scientists and on developing unconventional language learning plans for motivated professionals.

Upon his return to the US, all roads led to Seattle where Aaron joined two linguists and a software developer to launch Glyph Language Services in 2001. With the sweat of our collective brow, and never forgetting that language is more an art than a science, Glyph has seen robust growth, our message resonating first with the top businesses and organizations in the US Pacific Northwest and eventually with clients worldwide.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Alex Bratton is a rare find in the technology industry. He is both a hard core technologies and a practiced communicator. At only 29, Alex started Lextech Global Services (his 8th company) in the basement of his family home, bootstrapping the company into what it is today. Eight years later the critical systems engineering firm has seen exponential growth, providing services that combine software, systems, networks and IT operations to deliver rock solid, scalable solutions for a variety of clientele.

Alex has honed his extensive knowledge of the iPhone and iPad platforms by working on many innovative mobile projects, both in-house and for clients. An app distributed through Lextech Labs is called iRa C3 Mobile Video Surveillance and has the distinction of being one of the most expensive — and highly regarded — business-oriented apps in the iPhone App Store.

Alex received his BS degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1993. While there, he worked at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications developing network and collaboration applications on teh same team that would two years later create the Mosaic web browser.
